The 4th cervical nerve goes to the cheeks, teeth, and ears. Conditions associated with pressure on this nerve are neuritis, eczema, and acne. The 5th cervical nerve goes to the nose, lips, mouth, and eustachian tubes. Conditions associated with pressure on this nerve include hay fever, catarrh, and blocked eustachian tubes. What is catarrh?
- Persistent mucus in the throat or nose
- A feeling of congestion or blockage
- A runny or stuffy nose
- Postnasal drip, where mucus runs down the back of the throat
- A cough or sore throat
- Decreased sense of smell and taste
Causes
Catarrh can be caused by infections, such as colds or sinus infections, or by allergic reactions to substances like pollen or dust. It can also occur as a result of irritants like smoke or pollution.
The good news is that it can be helped! I work on the toes specifically for these concerns. It can be painful at first, but it does get better. Give it a try!
